Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship Program

The University of Florida Advanced Endoscopy program is open to physicians interested in comprehensive training in advanced endoscopy, including Third Space Endoscopy. The program started in 2004 and since then over 20 fellows have graduated and successfully pursued careers in academic medicine and in various practice settings. Currently there is one Advanced Endoscopy Fellow starting each year, with some overlap with the existing fellow due to the 18-month training period.

We offer an 18-month experience with time dedicated to 80% Clinical Activity, 10% Research activity, and 10% teaching time. Within the 18-month period, the program incorporates training in ERCP, diagnostic and therapeutic EUS, luminal stenting, advanced endoscopic resection techniques, suturing/defect closure, small bowel enteroscopy, ablative therapies and the full spectrum of Third Space Endoscopy.

A distinguishing feature of our program is that we provide comprehensive training in Third Space Endoscopy with the expectation that graduating fellows will be prepared for independent practice. Importantly, the third space endoscopy training is carried out over the entire period of 18 months allowing for adequate time and case volumes for skill accumulation and development.

Mission The goal of our fellowship program is to train competent, evidence-based, and compassionate Advanced Endoscopists who become leaders in the field.

Vision To provide the highest quality of care for patients undergoing advanced endoscopy.

Aim The University of Florida Advanced Endoscopy and Third Space Endoscopy Fellowship Program aims to promote comprehensive holistic approach that incorporates the cognitive, technical and collaborative components of patient care with a focus on patient outcomes in a model of shared decision-making.
