Research Summary

My research goal is to understand the molecular mechanisms of inflammatory diseases and to use that information to suggest new therapeutic targets. Currently, I am studying the regulating mechanisms and modulators of inflammasomes, which are initiators and/or amplifiers of inflammation, and which maturate interleukin (IL)-1beta and IL-18, using macrophages and animal models. I chose to come to Prof. Christian Jobin’s lab to extend my knowledge to colitis and colon cancer. In Jobin lab, I plan to study the relationship between macrophages, intestinal epithelial cells, and bacteria at different stages of colitis and colon cancer.
