About Chanelle K Benjamin
Hello, my name is Chanelle K. Benjamin, and I am a clinical gastroenterologist at UF Health and assistant clinical professor in the UF Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition. My goal is to provide compassionate, patient centered and evidence-based care while empowering patients through education and support.
I earned my medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine, where I also completed a certificate in public health through the MD/MPH program. My training in internal medicine was completed at the University of Louisville, followed by fellowship training in gastroenterology at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Along the way, I’ve pursued academic opportunities in biomedical sciences, physiology, public health, and medical education, building a strong foundation for whole-person, patient-centered care.
My clinical interests span the breadth of general gastroenterology, with a focus on obesity, endoscopic bariatrics, and nutrition. I’ve contributed to multiple research projects, including the development of a multidisciplinary alcohol-associated liver disease clinic, the use of electrogastrography in evaluating motility disorders, and the role of nutrition and inflammation in gastrointestinal health.
Beyond clinical care, I’m deeply committed to mentorship, education, and advancing health equity. I’ve had the honor of serving on quality improvement and diversity task forces, and I continue to be actively involved in academic medicine and leadership.
I believe that health care works best when it’s built on trust, open communication, and shared decision-making. Whether you’re seeking guidance for a chronic condition or navigating a new diagnosis, I’m here to listen and work with you toward your best health.
