About Media N Ismael

My name is Media Ismael, MD, and I am an assistant professor and the associate program director of the gastroenterology fellowship in the University of Florida Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition. I am at attending physician at UF Health Shands Hospital and the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center

My academic journey began with a medical degree from the University of Jordan, followed by internal medicine residency at the University of Florida. Subsequently, because I was always fascinated by the diversity of the liver organ and how it affects the entire body and thus chose to specialize in the gastroenterology and hepatology field by pursing subspecialty fellowship training in gastroenterology and hepatology, followed by transplant hepatology, both at UF.

In addition to my interest in liver disease, I am passionate about trainee education and enjoy improving the learner experience in our fellowship program. This passion started during my own training as part of the program committee and continues in my role as associate program director.

I remain engaged in my practice as a member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, American Society of Transplantation, and American College of Gastroenterology. I have had the privilege to help establish and maintain the UF Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition’s presence on social media and leveraging the online platform to foster engagement and recognition of our department in the medical community.
